Alexandria 18-Year-Old Charged In Assaults Of Two Women

Alexandria Police say they have arrested a man in attempted robbery and sexual battery incidents involving two women.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—An 18-year-old Alexandria man faces charges related to an attempted robbery and sexual battery last week.

Alexandria Police say the attempted robbery and sexual battery both occurred in the area of Duke Street and North Jordan Street in the West End on Monday, Aug. 14.

Around 3:24 p.m., police responded to the attempted robbery on the bike trail near Holmes Run Parkway. The suspect grabbed a woman from behind and demanded money. The victim struggled with the suspect, who then fled.

Not long after at at 3:59 p.m., police say the suspect grabbed a woman's buttocks at an apartment building in the 500 block of North Jordan Street. The suspect fled when the victim screamed.

Joshua Sprinkle, 18, has been charged with attempted robbery and abduction in the first incident, and sexual battery for the second incident. Sprinkle was arrested on Aug. 16 and is being held without bond.
