Record Number Of Alexandria Aces Players Drafted In MLB In 2025

A record number of collegiate players who played for the Alexandria Aces were drafted into MLB teams, including an Alexandria native.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — A record seven players from the Alexandria Aces heard their names called as they were drafted into the Major League Baseball.

Alexandria Aces players drafted in the 2025 MLB Draft on July 13 and 14 were Ryan Osinski, James Quinn-Irons, Colton Book, Cameron Keshock, Dylan Grego, Jacob Hartlaub and Sam Robertson. This was a new record for the Aces, a collegiate summer league team that's part of the Cal Ripken, Sr League.

"Congratulations to my guys who I have had the privilege to coach while in college," said Chris Berset, head coach of the Alexandria Aces. "I can’t wait to watch each and every one of your journeys continue to flourish!"

The previous record for the Alexandria Aces was five draft picks in 2019, followed by four each in 2015 and 2017. To date, the team has seen 50 of its former players be drafted to MLB teams over 17 seasons.

"This year’s MLB Draft class is a testament to the hard work of our players, coaches, and the entire Aces organization," added Frank Fannon, President of the Alexandria Aces. "We are incredibly proud to see so many of our former players take the next step in their baseball careers."

Here are more details on the new MLB picks:

Ryan Osinski (2022) 17th Round, Pick 524: New York Yankees

Ryan Osinski, an Alexandria native who stood out as a right-handed pitcher participated in the University of Virginia baseball program and thrived with the Alexandria Aces in the summer of 2022. According to the team, he played a key role in leading the Aces to their Cal Ripken Collegiate Baseball League Championship. Osinski finished the season with a perfect 4-0 record, a 3.14 ERA, and 36 strikeouts. Before his collegiate career, Osinski developed into a top pitching prospect at St. Stephen's & St. Agnes School in Alexandria.

James Quinn-Irons (2024) 5th Round, Pick 147: Tampa Bay Rays

Quinn-Irons, a standout at George Mason University, led the Aces in RBIs (36), doubles (11), and walks (29) while hitting .262 over 33 games.

Colton Book (2021) 9th Round, Pick 271: Chicago Cubs

Book made four starts for the Aces, recording a 4.43 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 22.1 innings. He earned his lone win in the playoffs with five shutout innings.

Cameron Keshock (2023) 12th Round, Pick 353: Pittsburgh Pirates

Out of Samford University, Keshock dominated during his time with the Aces with a 2.42 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 26 innings, including one save.

Dylan Grego (2023) 13th Round, Pick 400: San Diego Padres

The Ball State star batted .270 over 29 games, scored 20 RBIs, 20 runs scored, and 13 extra-base hits (10 doubles, 2 home runs, 1 triple).

Jacob Hartlaub (2022) 14th Round, Pick 417: Tampa Bay Rays

Also from Ball State, Hartlaub led the Aces’ 2022 championship team in ERA (4.56), innings pitched (47.1), strikeouts (48), and wins (5).

Sam Robertson (2024) 17th Round, Pick 523: New York Mets

Out of Northwest Shoals Community College, Robertson thrived as a base runner with 17 stolen bases, 23 runs scored, and a .370 on-base percentage.

The team's summer season kicked off on June 4, and the last game is July 21. League semi-final and final games will be held from July 23 to 29. All home games begin at 6:30 p.m. at Frank Mann Field (3700 Commonwealth Ave, Alexandria, VA) and offer free parking. Tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children under 12 and can be purchased online at www.alexandriaaces.org or at the gate.
