Alexandria Among 'Most Successful Cities In Virginia'
A number of factors contributed to Alexandria's high ranking among Virginia cities.
ALEXANDRIA, VA—Residents can probably list a number of reasons why living in Alexandria is so great, but data can back those up too. Alexandria was recently ranked ninth among "Most Successful Cities in Virginia" by career expert website Zippia.
The rankings are based on the median household income, unemployment rate and poverty level based on the 2010-2014 American Community Survey. All three factored into a "success score."
Alexandria did fairly well in all three categories with an above average median income of $87,319, poverty rate of 7.7 percent and low unemployment rate of 4.7 percent. With these and other things in mind, it makes sense that Alexandria is a wonderful place to live, right?

The study looked at 62 cities in Virginia with more than 5,000 people. Nearby, Vienna, Falls Church, Fairfax and Herndon were among the top cities too.
