Alexandria Braces For Severe Thunderstorm Impacts
With Alexandria under a severe thunderstorm watch, the city urged residents to prepare for possible flash flooding, large hail and more.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — With Alexandria and the region under a severe thunderstorm watch, the city government urged residents to prepare Monday.
The National Weather Service's severe thunderstorm watch means damaging wind gusts, large hail, flash flooding, and tornado conditions are possible. The watch is in effect until 9 p.m. Monday.
The city government encouraged residents to stay indoors, follow local media for weather updates, and take other actions as necessary to stay safe. Residents can report downed traffic signals and other non-life-threatening requests to the Alex 311 system, while emergencies can be directed to 911.
