Alexandria Coronavirus Update: 50 New Cases, 3 New Deaths
There are 50 new cases of the coronavirus in the Alexandria Health District. The total number of cases in the health district to 1,657.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — There are 50 new cases of the new coronavirus in the Alexandria Health District as of Friday, bringing the total number of cases in the health district to 1,657.
There are three additional coronavirus-related deaths in the health district as of Friday, bringing the total number of deaths to 37, according to the Virginia Department of Health. COVID-19 is the disease caused by the coronavirus. In the health district, there are currently 175 hospitalized patients.
As of Friday, there are 34,950 total cases statewide, according to data reported by the Virginia Department of Health. In Virginia, there have been 1,136 coronavirus-related deaths to date. There are currently 4,145 hospitalized COVID-19 patients.

There have been 11 coronavirus outbreak in the Alexandria Health District as of Friday, with 125 cases related to an outbreak. There have been nine outbreaks at long term care facilities, one outbreak at a congregate setting and one outbreak in an educational setting in Alexandria. There have been 107 reported coronavirus cases in Alexandria healthcare workers.
On Friday, Virginia health officials reported 6,516 COVID-19 tests have been taken in Alexandria. Statewide there have been 249,940 COVID-19 tests taken.

The breakdown by age is as follows:
- 0-9: 77 cases
- 10-19: 108 cases
- 20-29: 237 cases
- 30-39: 371 cases
- 40-49: 316 cases
- 50-59: 216 cases
- 60-69: 143 cases
- 70-79: 83 cases
- 80+: 71 cases
The breakdown of cases by race, according to the Virginia Department of Health, is:
- White: 598 cases
- Black or African American: 238 cases
- Other: 328 cases
- Not reported: 463 cases
The breakdown of cases by ethnicity is as follows:
- Hispanic or Latino: 767 cases
- Not Hispanic or Latino: 515 cases
- Not reported: 345 cases
