Alexandria Forecast: A Short Break, Then More Rain
After a coastal flooding advisory during high tide Thursday morning, heavy rain could return overnight.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—As we look ahead to the weekend, most of us are probably wondering if we'll get relief from the rain that's lingered for a good portion of September. The good news is, the weekend looks better. The bad news is, the rain isn't quite done yet.
The National Weather Service's forecast for Alexandria calls for rain starting up again—likely into Thursday afternoon and night. Forecasters say rain may be heavy at times overnight with new rainfall up to half or three quarters of an inch. A flood watch is in effect from Thursday evening through the late night.
Wednesday night's rain had its impact too. The NWS issued a coastal flood advisory for the shoreline of Alexandria that expired at noon Thursday. The water is expected to approach the curb at King Street and Strand Street, but should be minor compared to the flooding earlier this month. High tide was at 10:26 a.m.
