Alexandria Health Department Set For Relocation To New Building
The Alexandria Health Department and other city services are moving to a new Mark Center facility.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The Alexandria Health Department is set to join other city services at a new location, the Redella S. "Del" Pepper Community Center at 4850 Mark Center Drive.
The health department's last day at its 4480 King Street location is Friday. The move will take place during the week of March 20.
During the move, walk-in services will not be available. Services at 4480 King Street that will be impacted by the move are clinical services, administration, public health emergency management, environmental health services, epidemiology, and population health.

The health department will respond to clients by phone or email and may direct them to services at nearby health agencies. Clients with appointments at the new Mark Center facility should call the health department to confirm at 703-746-4996.
Walk-in services are expected to resume at the new location during the week of March 27. During the move, the Teen Wellness Center and the Casey Health Center continue to provide services.

The health department will occupy floors 3 and 4 of the new facility. The Alexandria's Department of Community and Human Services is also in the midst of a move to the Redella S. "Del" Pepper Community Center. The old Department of Community and Human Services location at 2525 Mount Vernon Avenue is permanently closed as of Feb. 28.
The City of Alexandria Permit Center has also moved to the second floor of the Redella S. “Dell” Pepper Community Center. Another Finance Department location will be added in addition to City Hall.

The facility was named Redella S. "Del" Pepper Community Center to honor Del Pepper, a councilmember who served for 36 years before retiring at the end of her term in 2021. The site is the former headquarters of Institute for Defense Analyses, which moved its headquarters to Potomac Yard.
The facility is a five-minute walk from the Mark Center Transit Center, served by Metrobus and DASH Bus. DASH Bus routes serving 4850 Mark Center Drive include Line 35 (Van Dorn Metro to Pentagon through Beauregard Street and S. Van Dorn Street), Line 36A/B (Potomac Yard to Mark Center through Arlandria and Parkfairfax) and Line 102 (King Street Metro to Mark Center through Seminary Road/Janneys Lane).
