Alexandria Holiday Market Opens In December
Alexandria residents can shop at unique vendors, hear live music and visit Santa during select days in December.

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Alexandria's Holiday Market opens for the Christmas season Dec. 1 at Carlyle Square (300 John Caryle Street). The European-style outdoor market is an annual opportunity for families to shop while enjoying live entertainment and winter comfort foods.
Shoppers can enjoy hot wine and cocoa while browsing through arts & crafts, jewelry, clothes, accessories and specialty item vendors. Certain vendors will be there for limited days, so be sure to check the schedule if you are looking for one in particular.
Every week will have a different performer: Moonshine Society (blues/jazz/R&B) on Dec. 2, Holly Montgomery (classic/modern rock) on Dec. 9, Carly Harvey (blues/jazz/R&B) on Dec. 16 and Justin Trawick and the Common Good on Dec. 23.

There's also a children's corner with a "paint-your-own" Christmas ornament activity. Santa will also pay a visit to good boys and girls Sunday, Dec. 3, 10 and 17 from noon-3 p.m.
Visitors to the market can donate canned food to Hunger Free Alexandria and toys to Volunteer Alexandria. In addition, donations of baby items and toys for ages one month to 12 years old are needed, especially baby dolls.

This year, the market runs weekends and the days leading up to Christmas Eve from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Here is the full schedule:
- December 1, 2, 3
- December 8, 9, 10
- December 15, 16, 17
- December 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23
