Alexandria Hosts Second Season of PBS's Mercy Street
Mercy Street is inspired by real events of Civil War Alexandria it is PBS's first American drama in nearly a decade.

From Alexandria Library: Alexandria Library celebrates the second season of PBS’s Mercy Street with a variety of special events that provide insight regarding life in Alexandria during the Civil War. Programs include lectures, author talks, and exhibits on topics ranging from battlefield medicine to women soldiers. Experts from local organizations, such as the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, George Mason University, Northern Virginia Community College, and the National Park Service are partnering with the Library to offer these programs. Events begin in December and will occur through February 2017.
Mercy Street – inspired by real events of Civil War Alexandria – is PBS’s first American drama in nearly a decade. The series takes viewers into the lives of Alexandrians during the Civil War. The Alexandria Library’s Local History/Special Collections Branch played an integral role in providing research and information to promote historical accuracy in the series. Mercy Street returns for a second season on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at 8 p.m. ET.
