ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria Library announced Wednesday it will return to curbside and virtual services only starting on Monday, Dec. 7.

In the return to the phase two of its reopening plan, the library cited an upward trend of coronavirus cases and increased risk of transmission in Alexandria and surrounding localities. Alexandria Library had reopened most physical locations to the public with restrictions on Aug. 17 and the Duncan Branch Library on Aug. 18 as part of its phase three opening.

"We know that Alexandria’s library is a valued resource for so many readers and supporters," the library said in a statement. "To that end, we’ll work closely with the Alexandria City government and health department. The Library Board will revisit this decision and will keep you informed of any changes."
