Alexandria Makers Market To Debut For Holiday Shopping Season
The pop-up event will feature artisans based in Alexandria and DIY workshops.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The first Alexandria Makers Market will launch just in time for the holiday shopping season. The pop-up event with Alexandria-based artisans is set for Sunday, Nov. 24 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Port City Brewing Company.
A variety of local artisans will set up in Port City Brewing Company's parking lot. Visitors can sip drinks from the brewery while browsing holiday gifts and making crafts at numerous DIY workshops throughout the day.
The idea for the Alexandria Makers Market came from Alyssa Kovach. She owns A|VA Apparel, an online T-shirt shop focusing on places that make Alexandria unique. The business allowed her to meet other local makers and brainstorm an idea to collaborate.

“My intention with Alexandria Makers Market is to celebrate all the hard-working creatives based in our city, and to enable opportunities for us to showcase our talent,” said Alyssa Kovach. “I approached Port City because they are incredible makers themselves. I thought they might appreciate the motivation of this concept in a way that other venues may not be able to relate to. I am so honored and grateful they have agreed to host our inaugural event.”
Businesses can sign up to participate in the Alexandria Makers Market at www.alexandriamakersmarket.com. Businesses such as Tulusa Goods, Flora Roots and Stem, Apothecary Spices, Ohh Soy Goodness, Leah Bee Quilts, and A|VA Apparel are confirmed to participate.
