Alexandria Man Arrested, Charged Over Hybla Valley Stabbing

ALEXANDRIA, VA – A 25-year-old Alexandria man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing in Hybla Valley on Saturday that left a man with life-threatening injuries, Fairfax County police announced.

According to Fairfax County’s Mount Vernon Police District, officers responded to reports of a stabbing on the 7800 block of Richmond Highway in Hybla Valley at 10:43 p.m. Saturday. They found a 41-year-old man with multiple stab wounds to his upper body. The man was taken to a hospital in life-threatening condition; the suspect had fled by the time police arrived.

Fairfax police say the victim and suspect had been arguing before the attack, and that they were able to find the suspect on area surveillance video footage. Detectives from multiple police units were sent to the area to identify witnesses and leads.

At about 4:40 p.m. on Sunday, Mount Vernon police officers say they spotted the suspect, wearing the same clothing as the night before, on the 3100 block of Sherwood Hall Lane in Hybla Valley.

Kamanti Michael Taylor Washington, 25, of Alexandria, was arrested. He is charged with malicious wounding. Police say a knife was found in his possession. Washington was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and is being held without bond. His next hearing is scheduled for Nov. 16.

A man with the same name and birthday as Washington has a long list of charges in Northern Virginia and a conviction for drug possession in Prince William County.
