Alexandria Man Faces New Charges For Filming In Dressing Rooms

One juvenile and two adults victims have come forward about being filmed. In all, police believe there are more than 60 victims.

An Alexandria man arrested on Christmas Eve for allegedly filming a girl in a dressing room is facing more charges, Fairfax County Police say.

The new charges resulted from police identifying three additional victims. Police had set up a hotline for people who believed Mumtaz Rauf, 39, may have filmed them. In all three cases, the victims believed they were recorded in December and called the hotline. The victims were two female adults and one female juvenile.

Police charged Rauf with unlawful videotaping, two of which are misdemeanors and one is a felony. Rauf was arrested on the new charges Wednesday and was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He is being held on a $7,000 bond.

Police did not release the locations of where the three victims were filmed.

Rauf was originally arrested and charged with unlawful filming after a teenage girl noticed someone filming her at Forever 21 in Fair Oaks Mall. Upon further investigation, police found over 100 videos with at least 60 victims on Rauf's phone.

Police have narrowed down the times and places they believe Rauf filmed victims. Rauf may have filmed victims at the Forever 21, Gap, H&M and Old Navy stores between Dec. 15 and 24 at Fair Lakes Promenade, Fair Oaks Mall, Springfield Town Center and Tysons Corner Center.

More than 289 people have reached out to police since the hotline was set up Jan. 3.

Detectives continue to seek information from anyone who may have been filmed. To contact police, call 703-246-4600, text 703-718-5806 or email fcpdtaskforce@fairfaxcounty.gov.
