Alexandria Man Pleads Guilty to Murder in July 2 Shooting: Report

He believed the shooting victim had killed his brother, says prosecutor.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — An Alexandria man pleaded guilty Thursday to murder in a shooting near Old Town last year that a prosecutor described as a revenge killing, according to media reports.

DiJuan Marquie Clark, 31, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a murder in connection with the July 2 shooting of 23-year-old Saquan Hall, WRC-TV Channel 4 reported. Clark made his plea in the Alexandria Circuit Court.

The shooting occurred in the early morning hours of July 2, at First Street and North Patrick Street, according to media reports. Hall went to that area to meet someone when Clark spotted him and fired multiple shots, striking Hall in the back.

Clark then shot Hall in the head as he lay on the ground, according to the Alexandria commonwealth's attorney's office, Channel 4 reported. A police investigation found that Clark believed Hall was responsible for his brother Pierre Clark's death several weeks before.

"The motive for this murder was apparently the oldest motive known to man: revenge," Commonwealth's Attorney Bryan Porter said, according to media reports.
