Alexandria Officer Faces Domestic Assault And Battery Charges

ALEXANDRIA, VA — An Alexandria police officer is facing domestic assault and battery charges and is on leave, according to the police department.

Richard Haynes, 30, was arrested last week in relation to an alleged incident in Alexandria on Nov. 27, 2021. Haynes is on administrative leave pending the results of an investigation.

An Alexandria Police Department spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Based on a previous police department tweet, Haynes appears to be a new officer who graduated from the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy in June 2021.
