Alexandria Old Town Art Festival Returns For 20th Year, Road Closures Planned
The Alexandria Old Town Art Festival is a free two-day event that will prompt road closures in the Carlyle neighborhood.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — Art enthusiasts can browse an outdoor art gallery throughout the weekend as the Alexandria Old Town Art Festival returns for a 20th year.
The event will be held at John Carlyle Square, 300 John Carlyle Street, Alexandria, VA from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Participating artists represent a variety of mediums, from painting and photography to jewelry, clothing, glass and sculptures. Artists are selected through a jury process, "which provides a higher level of quality, diversity and creativity of art on display," according to event organizer Howard Alan Events. Art is available for sale at the event.
Road closures will begin at 10 p.m. Friday in preparation for the event, according to Alexandria Police. John Carlyle Street will be closed between Duke Street and Emerson Avenue, and there will be no crossover traffic on Jamieson and Ballenger Avenues while the event is happening.

Reserved, no parking, and road closures signs will also be posted in the event area. Road closures will end at 9 p.m. Sunday. Drivers are asked to be alert in the area and expect an increased police presence.
Parking garages near the event include Colonial Parking Garage, 1925 Ballenger Avenue; Colonial Parking Garage, 333 John Carlyle Street, and USPTO East Parking Garage, 551 John Carlyle Street.
