Alexandria Police to Conduct Mock Shooting Exercise

If you see a lot of commotion at Landmark Mall on Wednesday, here’s why: The shopping center will be the setting for a mock shooting training exercise for the Alexandria Police Department.

On Wednesday, July 30, the Alexandria Police Department will conduct a critical incident training exercise at the shopping center, located at 5801 Duke St.

The mock incident will take place from 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Public safety personnel will be in the area from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The critical incident training exercise will be centered on a mock shooting at the mall. The Department’s Special Operations Team and Hostage Negotiations Team, as well as the Alexandria Fire Department and Arlington Police Department’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team, SOT and HNT will be participating in the exercise.
