UPDATE: Alexandria Police Investigating Death of Baby Boy
Police were on the scene Wednesday morning. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death, police said.

UPDATE Wednesday, 1:55 p.m.:
The Alexandria Police Department is conducting a death investigation of a male infant, according to the department.
Around 6:07 a.m. Wednesday, officers responded to Bragg Towers Extended Stay Hotel, 99 S. Bragg St. in the Lincolnia area after someone called 9-1-1, to assist the Fire Department and medics with an infant in medical distress.

The baby was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.
The baby boy was under 2 months of age, according to a police department spokeswoman.
