The attempted rape Friday took place at approximately 10:38 a.m.; police were called to an apartment complex for an assault. A 28 year-old woman was walking through an underground laundry room between two buildings when an unknown man grabbed her from behind, according to police.
The suspect wrestled with the victim and tried to remove her pants, police said. The victim fought back and hit the suspect in the face with the nozzle of an industrial vacuum, cutting his face. The suspect then brandished a small knife and ordered the victim to stay in the room as he fled.
Anyone recognizing the person depicted in the sketch or anyone with additional information about this case is asked to contact Detective Brad Cecchetti with the Alexandria Police Department at 703.746.6858.
