Alexandria Police Seek Suspect After Man Stabbed While Sleeping Outside

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandria police are asking for the public's help identifying a man suspected of stabbing another man multiple times while the victim was sleeping outside early Monday morning.

The stabbing occurred around 3:20 a.m. Monday near the parking lot of the Tiger Market at 3903 Mount Vernon Avenue, according to the Alexandria Police Department.

Police said the victim, an adult man, was sleeping on the ground when an unknown man approached and stabbed him several times. Officers arrived at the scene just after 4 a.m. and were told by the victim that the attack had happened about an hour or two earlier.

The suspect reportedly crossed Mount Vernon Avenue as he left the area and continued onto Executive Avenue toward West Glebe Road, according to police.

The case is being investigated as felony aggravated malicious wounding.

Police released an image of the person they are trying to identify in connection with the stabbing. Investigators described him as an adult man around 20 to 30 years old, about 180 pounds, with long black hair and a fair complexion.

Police have not announced a possible motive.
