Alexandria Primary Voter Guide: What’s On The Aug. 4 Ballot
Alexandria voters can begin casting ballots for Virginia's primary election on June 18. Here's who is on the ballot.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — On Aug. 4, voters in Virginia’s 8th Congressional District will choose who will represent the Democratic Party in the November general election for that seat in the U.S. House of Representatives and who will represent the Republican Party in the race for the Senate.
Early voting for the primary begins on June 18 and ends on Aug. 1. Voters are not registered by party in Virginia, so any registered voter can cast a ballot in the primary they choose.
VA Democratic Primary
Five candidates are running for Congress in the Democratic primary. The five candidates are:

Senate Republican Primary
Voters can choose from among 3 candidates running to represent the Republican Party in the U.S. Senate race in November. Those candidates are:
On the Democratic side, incumbent Senator Mark Warner has already secured his party's nomination.

Early Voting In Person
Alexandrians have two options for in-person early voting:
June 18 to Aug. 1
Vote early at the Office of Voter Registration & Elections, 132 N. Royal St. Suite 100.
- The office will be open during normal business hours: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- The office will be open for some weekend extended hours:
- Sunday, July 19, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Saturday, July 25, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Sunday, July 26, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Tuesday, July 28, 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Thursday, July 30, 8 a.m. - 7 p.m.
- Saturday, August 1, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- The office will be closed June 19 and July 3.
July 19 to Aug. 1
Vote early at the Beatley Central Library, 5005 Duke St.
The library will be open for in-person voting on weekends in July and August 1.
- Sunday, July 19, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Saturday, July 25, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Sunday, July 26, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
- Saturday, Aug. 1, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Early voting by mail
The deadline to request that a ballot be mailed to you is July 24. You can apply online through the Department of Elections website, complete a paper application (which you can download here), or call the city’s Office of Voter Registration and Elections at (703) 746-4050 to request one.
Return completed paper applications to the Office of Voter Registration and Elections by mail (132 North Royal St., Suite 100, Alexandria, VA. 22314), fax (703.746.4540), or scanned email attachment (VoteAbsentee@alexandriava.gov).
