Alexandria Teen Charged With DWI After Fatal Pedestrian Crash In Lincolnia

Fairfax County police said the crash occurred shortly before 3:40 a.m. Friday near Little River Turnpike and Southland Avenue.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — A 19-year-old Alexandria man was arrested on a drunken driving charge after a fatal pedestrian crash early Friday in Lincolnia, according to Fairfax County police.

Officers responded to the intersection of Little River Turnpike and Southland Avenue shortly before 3:40 a.m. after receiving a call about a pedestrian struck by a car.

Investigators determined that Stephen Roberts, 73, of Alexandria, was crossing Little River Turnpike when he was struck by an eastbound 2018 Honda Civic, Fairfax County police said.

Roberts was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said the driver continued a short distance before pulling into a nearby parking lot and calling 911.

Officers observed signs of impairment and turned the investigation over to the department's Driving While Intoxicated Enforcement Squad. The driver, Claudio Medina Osorio, 19, of Alexandria, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated.

Medina Osorio was taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held without bond, according to police.

Detectives said speed remains under investigation as a possible factor in the crash.
