Alexandria Woman Wins Lottery 4 Months After Drawing
Better later than never. An Alexandria woman won a top prize in a March lottery drawing.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — There's nothing like finding loose cash lying around, and suddenly your wallet is a little fuller. For one Alexandria woman, a months-old winning lottery ticket was even better.
The woman, who requested her name be withheld, didn’t realize that she had a lottery ticket winning $100,000 for months. Four months after the March 1 Cash 5 day drawing, she learned the ticket won the top prize.
"The whole thing isn’t real!" she told Virginia Lottery officials. "It hasn’t sunk in yet."

She bought the winning ticket at Giant Food at 3131 Duke Street in Alexandria. Although she forgot to check the winning numbers, it was better late than never. Her winnings will be used to help her family.
