Alexandria's Lorien Hotel Completes $2.51M In Updates

ALEXANDRIA, VA—Alexandria's Kimpton Lorien Hotel & Spa has finished a $2.51 million redesign to the hotel’s 107 guest rooms including 16 suites as well as outdoor terraces, public spaces and its 5,600 square feet of event space.

The hotel's brand new look combines classic architectural details with contemporary, sophisticated twists. Design firm MONOGRAM at BBGM completed the guest room, corridor and suite design updates, and David Hill Design updated the event space and living room decor.

Guest rooms blend a minimalist yet luxurious atmosphere with a unique blue and green inkblot design on the walls. Along with modern furnishings, guests can also expect gray stone vanities, as well as clawfoot bathtubs and Turkish rainfall showers in some rooms.

The hotel’s Presidential and Diplomat Suites are the best it has to offer. The multi-room suites feature parlors with relaxing sectional seating, reading chairs, and oversized bathrooms with spa rain showers. The spacious Presidential Suite also features a contemporary dining set and built-in wet bar perfect for hosting receptions, bridal parties or meetings of up to 10 guests. Most suites have outdoor terraces with spectacular views of Old Town Alexandria and with couches and chairs.

The two event spaces have updated decor and access to private courtyards and terraces and the adjacent BRABO restaurant. The Liberty Room, the hotel’s largest space, accommodates up to 100 guests banquet style or 125 for receptions. The Independence Room has room for board meetings, breakout space for up to 20, and cocktail hours for up to 50 guests and leads to the outdoor Freedom Terrace.

The outdoor courtyard has an in-ground fire feature can fit banquets for 20 guests and receptions for up to 45. The hotel's redesigned living room, which hosts wine hours for guests, was also redesigned with varied seating, coffee tables and art pieces.

The adjoining restaurant BRABO underwent renovations in 2016, doubling the size of its bar area and adding more seating and upgrades.
