Antique Shop To Close After Nearly 4 Decades In Alexandria
Studio Antiques and Fine Art will be closed at the end of the year, but online sales will continue.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — The owners of Old Town Alexandria's Studio Antiques and Fine Art announced it will close at the end of 2019. The store has been open for nearly four decades at 524 North Washington Street.
Opened in 1982 by Lois Boyles and Richard Totoiu, Studio Antiques and Fine Art specializes in 18th and 19th century furniture, paintings and accessories. Its three floors are filled with antiques and paintings, and they've had a special interest in selling tea caddys and boxes. The store has over 400 19th century to modern American and European oil paintings, one of the most extensive collections in the area.
The store has sold to everyone from budget first-time buyers to experienced collectors and museums like the National Gallery of Art in DC. Totoiu cited costs and waning consumer interest in antique stores as factors in the closing during an interview with Alexandria Times.
