The new innovation hub is intended to connect entrepreneurs in technological fields with backers and clients.
ALEXANDRIA, VA – Alexandria and Arlington’s National Innovation Quarter received the lion’s share of this round of GO Virginia grants to support projects focused on increasing energy reliability, investing in advanced manufacturing and strengthening national security.
Of the more than $5.6 million in grants announced by the Virginia governor’s office on Friday, $3.9 million went to Arlington and Alexandria’s regional innovation district.
The National Innovation Quarter was launched as a tax-exempt nonprofit organization in February 2026 with a stated goal of connecting innovators to “people, places and programming” in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area. Its founding partners include Amazon, Northrup Grumman, Virginia Technological University, JBG Smith and other major companies alongside economic development partnerships from Alexandria and Arlington. The district encompasses Crystal City, Pentagon City and Potomac Yard.
