Around The World Cultural Food Festival To Make Return In Alexandria

Over 40 countries will be represented at the event, from food and artisan items to traditional dance performances.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Alexandrians can take a trip around the world right in their backyard with the return of the Around the World Cultural Food Festival on Saturday, Aug. 27.

The event is the DC region's largest outdoor cultural food festival, highlighting international diversity of food and culture. In 2021, the event moved to Alexandria's Oronoco Bay Park.

The 2022 event will once again be held at Oronoco Bay Park from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Aug. 27. There will be 40 countries represented at the event, featuring ethnic cuisine, traditional dance performances and artisan items. The event is free to attend with food, drinks and vendor items available for purchase.

The food portion of the event will give attendees the choice of over 80 traditional food items from 14 countries. There will be food vendors representing cuisine from Ecuador, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Laos, Lebanon, Mexico, Peru, Thailand, Turkey and the United States.

Over 80 ethnic artisans and crafters, independent consultants, small businesses and nonprofits will join the event. Artisan items will represent countries like Angola, Benin, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Colombia, El Salvador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Honduras, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Peru, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, United States, Turkey and more.

In between trying food and browsing vendors, check out traditional dance performances highlighting 17 countries. Countries spotlighted in the dance performances will be Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Hungary, India, Ireland, Japan, Peru, Romania, Scotland, Thailand, Turkey and United Kingdom.
