Back To School In Alexandria: ACPS 2021-22 Calendar

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Back-to-school planning has already begun in Alexandria, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day for Alexandria City Public Schools.

The first day of school for most students in Alexandria is Tuesday, Aug. 24. Alexandria City Public Schools will require masks inside its facilities and vehicles for the start of the academic year.

Here is the list of dates to know during the 2021-22 academic year:

• First Day: Tuesday, Aug. 24
• Student Holiday (Labor Day): Sept. 3-6
• Student Holiday (Professional Development Day - Indigenous Peoples' Day): Monday, Oct. 11
• End of Quarter 1: Nov. 1
• Student Holiday (Teacher Work Day): Nov. 2
• Thanksgiving Break: Nov. 24-26
• Winter Break: Dec. 20-31
• Classes Resume: Monday, Jan. 3, 2022
• Martin Luther King Jr.'s Birthday: Monday, Jan. 17
• End of Quarter 2: Jan. 27
• Student Holiday (Teacher Work Day): Friday, Jan. 28
• Students Holiday (Professional Development Day): Friday, Feb. 18
• George Washington's Birthday and Presidents Day: Monday, Feb. 21
• Student Holiday (Professional Development Day): Monday, March 21
• End of Quarter 3: April 8
• Spring Break: April 11-15
