Barre3 offers a mix of ballet barre, yoga and Pilates as part of its workout. The Alexandria location would be the first barre3 location in Virginia.

The building also houses Society Fair, the food emporium by celebrated chef Cathal Armstrong.

Barre3 is seeking to locate in The Atrium in two separate studio spaces, in just more than 2,700 square feet of space. The spaces will be able to accommodate 26 students in one studio and 14 in the other.

Barre3 describes its workout as a mix of “athleticism, grace, and the latest innovations designed to balance the body. Inspired by ballet barre, yoga, and Pilates, our instructors guide you through a specific sequence of movements that tone and lengthen all major muscle groups, rev your heart rate, and strengthen your body.”

Barre3 got its start nearly 10 years ago in Portland, Ore. with a husband and wife team Sadie and Chris Lincoln and the owner of 24 Hour Fitness; there are now about 100 locations nationwide, but none so far in Virginia. There are three locations in DC (Georgetown, Spring Valley and Union Station) with another opening soon on 14th Street, according to the company’s Web site.

In addition to working out at its studios, barre3 also offers online workouts (workouts at home by following along). Read more about the classes here.
