Bicycle Shop for Women Opens in Alexandria

A new community-oriented bicycle shop for woman has opened in Alexandria. Lotus Pedal, an offshoot of BicycleSPACE in DC, is located at 119 N. Washington St. in the historic First National Savings and Loan bank building in Old Town Alexandria and is open Wednesday through Sunday.

Lotus Pedal by BicycleSPACE celebrates their official grand opening this Thursday through Saturday. Lotus Pedal is the first brick-and-mortar location for BicycleSPACE in Virginia. The business sells a finely curated selection of quality bicycles for urban commuters, recreational trailblazers, athletes, adventurers and everyone in between.

Lotus Pedal is hosting an opening night preview Thursday from 6-8 p.m. to meet shopkeeper Amanda Carter, and serving refreshments plus hors d’oeuvres.

The bicycle shop is geared to be a comfortable space for beginners and experienced cyclists to learn, share and grow.

Hours are:

• Wednesday to Friday: 12 noon-7 p.m.
• Saturdays: 10 am. to 6 p.m.
• Sundays: 12 noon to 5 p.m.
