Bicyclist From Alexandria Killed In Frederick County Crash
A bicyclist crossing U.S. Route 15 in Maryland was struck and killed by a vehicle, according to state police.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — A bicyclist from Alexandria was killed in a crash in Frederick County, Maryland Saturday afternoon, according to Maryland State Police.
The crash involving a vehicle and bicycle happened before 3:30 p.m. Saturday at U.S. Route 15 and Catoctin Furnace Road. According to police, a Toyota 4Runner heading north on Route 15 just south of Catoctin Furnace Road struck a bicyclist crossing Route 15 from west to east at Catoctin Furnace Road.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead by Frederick County fire and rescue. He was identified as Scott Cornell Binde, 64, of Alexandria

The driver remained at the scene. Police do not believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. The cause of the crash continues to be investigated by Maryland State Police.
Northbound U.S. Route 15 was closed for about three hours following the crash.
