Building Problems Wednesday at 2 Alexandria Schools

Cold weather likely culprit.

Two Alexandria City schools are experiencing building problems Wednesday morning likely due to the cold temperatures outdoors.

ACPS sent out this message this morning about problems at Minnie Howard and Hammond:

11:52 A.M.: Areas of Minnie Howard without heat. Interrupted water service at Hammond due to burst pipe.

11:52 a.m. Today, some parts of Minnie Howard School have been without heat. Students and staff have been moved into heated parts of the building while the repair is being made and classes are running as normal.

11:45 a.m: Hammond Middle School has had a burst pipe, which has interrupted water service in some parts of the building while the pipe is being repaired. Students will be eating lunch as normal and some bathroom facilities are in working order.
