Call Your Mother Deli Plans New Location In Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Call Your Mother Deli, a popular bagel shop in the DC region, is having a second try at a location in Alexandria.

The bagel shop filed a special use permit application Tuesday for 1300 King Street. According to the application, the deli will sell mostly bagels and coffee along with other menu items and merchandise. Customers will be able to order at a front counter and take orders to go or for dine-in. There are 51 proposed seats indoors, including 34 table seats and 27 bar stools.

Call Your Mother Deli dates back to 2018 when the first location opened in DC's Park View neighborhood. Today, owners Daniela Moreira and Andrew Dana have six DC locations, two Maryland locations, one in Virginia, and sales at the Dupont and Silver Spring farmers markets. The first Virginia location opened in McLean this spring, according to FFX Now.

According to the bagel shop's website, Call Your Mother's bagels are inspired by New York-style and Montreal-style bagels as well as Dana's Jewish heritage. The menu includes deli classics offered with a twist by Moreira. Most of the ingredients are made in the shops, except for items from local suppliers like Logan’s Sausage.

Call Your Mother Deli was previously supposed to open in a space on N. Pitt Street in Old Town Alexandria, but the plan was scrapped, ALX Now reported.
