Chewish Deli To Open At Former Pendleton Carryout Co. Spot
The food truck's New York-style bagels are coming to a storefront in Alexandria.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — Good news bagel fans: Chewish Deli is planning to open a storefront in Alexandria. Known for its New York-style bagels, sandwiches and coffee, Chewish Deli will expand from its current operation from a food truck.
On Thursday, the business announced the future opening at 807 Pendleton Street, where Pendleton Carryout Co. was located. Chewish Deli is aiming to be open in a few weeks.
"I know many of you loved Pendleton Carry Out and we'll have some big shoes to fill in that space, but we're up for the challenge!" reads a post on Chewish Deli's Facebook.

The business already has a following from serving bagels through other means in Alexandria. Chewish Deli started as a pop-up in Old Town in 2018 before turning into a food truck operation. It was started by Gregg Linzey, whose former Genuine Water Bagels brought bring New York-style bagels to Old Town to fill a void.
Aside from operating out of a food truck and fulfilling catering orders in Northern Virginia, Chewish Bagels delivers fresh bagels to Misha's Coffeehouse on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

When it opens its brick-and-mortar location, Chewish Deli will start with limited hours for walk-ins. Pre-orders for pickup will be available on a limited basis until the location is fully open and staffed.
Once the business settles in at the new location, it plans to offer an expanded menu with more deli items, grab-and-go foods, a full coffee menu and more.
Pendleton Carryout Co. was an incubator space for emerging food concepts It rotated concepts such as Freed's Biscuit Company, 100 Bowls of Soup, Killa Cakes and Laoban Dumplings and had last been open earlier in 2020.
