Join Christ Church January 19, Noon-7:00 p.m., for a day of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. readings in honor of his birthday.

Alexandria, VA, January 19, 2015 — In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday, Christ Church Alexandria is hosting a day-long reading of his writings, speeches, and sermons in the Historic Church starting at noon and concluding at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 19.
This event is open to the public to come and listen or to take part in the reading. There is no admission charge. Anyone wanting to be a lead reader may sign up on-line at http://doodle.com/wnrvbkg6rcactxdm for a half-hour reading shift, but anyone in attendance is invited to be part of the reading as well by coming to the lectern and indicating they wish to take over for a time. Whenever they wish to stop, someone will be ready to take their place. Families with youth or children are encouraged to attend.
“The intention of this day of readings is to be inspired to continue our work towards building the Beloved Community,” says the Rev. Heather VanDeventer, Associate Rector for Evangelism & Faith Formation at Christ Church. “It is also in response to recent events which have reminded our nation that the work of racial reconciliation is not yet done.”
