Christ Church to Provide Thanksgiving for 150 Families in Need

The Christ Church Lazarus Ministry will receive and distribute 150 turkeys on Tuesday, November 25.

Alexandria, VA, November 25, 2014 — The Christ Church Lazarus Ministry will receive and distribute 150 turkeys on Tuesday, November 25. One hundred and fifty families will each receive a turkey and the makings for a complete Thanksgiving meal. The families are Alexandrians who have requested assistance from the church’s Lazarus Outreach Ministry which serves local people in need. The families will receive a complete meal to prepare at home thanks to the generosity of Christ Church parishioners donating: stuffing mix, instant mashed potatoes, canned yams or sweet potatoes, canned green beans, canned corn, canned collard greens, macaroni and cheese, turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, chicken broth, brownie mix, and cake mix.

On Sunday, November 23, Christ Church youth in Grades 6-12 will help set up for Christ Church’s Thanksgiving food distribution by converting the elegant Meade Room of the Parish House into a Thanksgiving food pantry.

The Christ Church Lazarus Ministry helps City of Alexandria residents seeking help coping with financial, health, and family crisis each week. Providing Thanksgiving meals is only one way Christ Church helps low income residents throughout the year.
