Watch Dozens Of Corgis Compete At First-Ever Colonial Downs Corgi Races

NEW KENT, VA – Sixty-four corgis took part in the inaugural Corgi Races at Colonial Downs Racetrack on Saturday, according to the track.

After 8 heats lasting throughout the day, a corgi mix named Willow from Williamsburg was named top dog (and sparked a bit of controversy in Facebook comments).

No cash prizes were awarded, but the top 3 finishers would receive gift bags, according to Colonial Downs. Willow's owner told Axios that she'd also earned herself a pup cup.

There was no fee to enter dogs, and any dog that was at least half corgi was eligible to run.

Not every racing runt appeared to understand the point of the endeavor, and a few looked to be in better shape for rolling than running.

The track provided videos introducing some of the contenders for those who can't get enough of short legs and wiggly backsides.

The racetrack had put out a request for racers to register by June 10. Corgi owners who missed this go-round, mark your calendars.
