Coronavirus: Alexandria Grocery Store Hours For Seniors, Easter

The City of Alexandria has a list of grocery store hours for vulnerable individuals. Residents should also be aware of changes on Easter.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — With cases of the new coronavirus on the rise in Alexandria and Northern Virginia, seniors and those with underlying health conditions are more vulnerable when out in public for tasks like grocery shopping. That's why grocery stores have hours reserved for those at higher risk for severe illness resulting from the virus.

The City of Alexandria has provided a list of grocery store hours for seniors and other high-risk individuals. We've also included hours on Sunday, April 12, as stores may adjust hours or close altogether for the Easter holiday.

  • Aldi, 425 East Monroe Avenue: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for seniors, expectant mothers and those with underlying health concerns. Easter hours: closed.
  • Aldi, 4580 Duke Street: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for seniors, expectant mothers and those with underlying health concerns. Easter hours: closed.
  • Aldi, 4602 Kenmore Avenue: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for seniors, expectant mothers and those with underlying health concerns. Easter hours: closed.
  • Balducci's, 600 Franklin Street: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. for vulnerable customers. Easter hours: closed.
  • The Fresh Market, 3680 King Street: 8 to 9 a.m. daily for seniors. Easter hours: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Giant Food, 3131 Duke Street: Daily from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. reserved for seniors. Easter hours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Giant Food, 621 East Glebe Road: Daily from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. reserved for seniors. Easter hours: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Global Food, 1476 North Beauregard Street: Daily from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. for vulnerable customers.
  • Harris Teeter, 735 North St. Asaph Street: Mondays and Thursdays from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. for seniors. Easter hours: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Harris Teeter, 4513 Duke Street: Mondays and Thursdays from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. reserved for seniors. Easter hours: regular hours.
  • LA Mart, 5730 Edsall Road: 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. daily for vulnerable customers.
  • Safeway (3526 King Street): Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. reserved for seniors, expectant mothers, and immunocompromised customers. Easter hours:
  • Safeway (500 S. Royal St., 703.836.0380): Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. reserved for seniors, expectant mothers, and immunocompromised customers.
  • Safeway, 299 South Van Dorn Street: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. for seniors, expectant mothers, and immunocompromised customers. Easter hours: 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Target, 3101 Richmond Highway: Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. reserved for vulnerable customers. Easter hours: closed.
  • Trader Joe’s, 612 North St. Asaph Street: Daily from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. for seniors and customers with disabilities. Easter hours: closed.
  • Whole Foods Market, 1700 Duke Street: 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. daily for seniors. Easter hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • BJ's Wholesale, 101 S. Van Dorn Street: Easter hours: closed.
