Croatian Wine Tastings, Game Day Discounts: Old Town Shops Announce World Cup Promotions

ALEXANDRIA, VA – Alexandria’s small businesses are celebrating the arrival of Croatia’s national soccer team with a “Shop the Checkers” promotional event.

Look out for the checkered Croatian flag at local small businesses, the Old Town Boutique Community says. That means shoppers there will score a free tote bag with a purchase, and you might find special discounts and events inside.

Some shops are offering sales on red, white and blue merchandise, some will give discounts to fans wearing red, white or blue, some will have special deals on Croatian team game days, one will have Croatian wine tastings on the team’s game days – the 12 participating shops have nearly as many ways of celebrating the tournament and the visiting team.
