Cub Scout Pack 301 participating in Scouting for Food this week.

Cub Scouts from Pack 301 made up of scouts from St. Mary's School and Lyles Crouch Traditional Academy are collecting food this week.

This week Cub Scouts from Pack 301 made up of scouts from St. Mary’s School and Lyles Crouch Traditional Academy are participating in the national Scouting for Food campaign to collect millions of pounds of non perishable food items for local food pantries. In Alexandria, an estimated 16,660 people live in food insecure households according to the 2014 Feeding America ‘Map the Meal Gap’ report. Each year the Cub Scout Pack 301 Scouting for Food campaign collects food items for the food pantry at ALIVE! (ALexandrians InVolved Ecumenically) which serves the Alexandria community, helping ensure our neighbors in need have food at home during the holiday season and year around. This week scouts delivered labeled brown paper bags to houses throughout Old Town and will be back to collect the bags filled with food items on the morning of November 8th. Thank you for your generosity in helping support this effort by filling the bag and leaving it on your doorstep. If you would like to make a cash contribution to the campaign or need an additional bag, please contact Pack 301 at webmaster@pack301stmarys.org
