The Storm Prediction Center has placed most of Northern Virginia under a Marginal Risk for severe weather on Thursday as a new warm front moves into the state. According to forecasts, thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon and evening hours, with some potentially becoming severe. Damaging wind gusts could occur with any storms that form, forecasters said.

According to Capital Weather forecasters, the D.C. region should also expect plenty of clouds on Thursday, with warmer, more humid conditions and highs in the mid- to upper 80s.

"Scattered showers and storms may continue into part of the evening," Capital Weather wrote. "Skies should partially clear overnight with lows again in the upper 60s to mid-70s."

On Friday, showers are likely and the region could see additional thunderstorms after 2 p.m. as a cold front moves in. Chances continue into the evening and overnight hours.

According to the National Weather Service, repeated rounds of showers and thunderstorms may bring heavy rain to parts of the region. Isolated flash flooding is possible, with the main risk being in urban areas and spots that received heavy rain earlier this week.

On Saturday, a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms remains, especially after 2 p.m. The remainder of the weekend should be pleasant and warm, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid- to upper 80s.
