Developer Updates Changes Coming to King Street and Beauregard in Alexandria: Report

Abramson Properties will be transforming the corner across from the TGI Fridays.

Development plans are coming along for the corner of Beauregard and King streets in Alexandria. Last we heard, a hotel was going to be a part of the mix, but Danny Abramson tells Fairlington residents that the hotel idea has been nixed, according to a report in the May issue of the All Fairlington Bulletin.

Instead of the 144-room hotel, plans now call for a five-story office building, he told residents. Still a part of the plan: An apartment building, but not 14 stories as originally planned, and a 62,000-square foot grocery store, a Harris Teeter. Plans also call for retail and restaurant space.

Abramson also revealed that the holdouts on the corner piece of property that currently house a check-cashing business and other retail, will be gone and it will be a part of the plan, providing extra parking and retail.

The timeline looks to be for Abramson submitting plans to the City in the fall and after approvals construction possibly beginning in mid-2016, the community newspaper reported.
