ALEXANDRIA, VA — A new deli is open in the former location of Deli, News & More on Alexandria's King Street.

Eddie’s Little Shop and Deli is open at 1406 King Street. The concept comes from Ed McIntosh, a former chef at Alexandria's Chop Shop Taco. The shop specializes in deli sandwiches, cold cuts and products like marinated mozzarella. An employee said the business opened Friday.

Customers can order signature sandwiches like the sausage roll with ground sausage, peppers, onions and balsamic glaze; or Co'bano with corned beef, mustard pickle, hot capicola, ham, swiss cheese and toasted marble rye loaf. Custom sandwiches can also be created with meats, cheeses, spreads and toppings.

As reported by Eater DC, McIntosh formerly worked at Great American Restaurants, Hillstone Restaurant Group, and Chop Shop Taco, the latter of which opened in 2019. The chef left Chop Shop Taco with a goal of opening a shop inspired by his days growing up in the Bronx, New York.

Eater DC reported he is expected to launch cooking classes.

Hours for Eddie's Little Shop and Deli are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday to Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and closed Sunday and Monday.
