Alexandria and the Civil War: Pride and Shame in Black and White

As the nation embarks upon the 150th year since the war that saved the soul and the government of a nation born in revolution but built on slavery, Agenda:Alexandria’s February program offers a look into the past at what life was like for the people of that time. The panelists will present that story from an archaeological and personal perspective. We will receive a preview of a new book on Alexandria’s history and hear about what it was like to live and to survive that era.

 Panelists include:

Andy Evans, artist, performer and a member of a family that has been in Alexandria since before the city’s first incorporation in 1779.
