Target Gallery presents an exhibition of artworks focusing on the complex relationship we have with food. While some pieces look at different aspects of food politics such food production and distribution, others take a more personal route by examining the relationship between food and our bodies. This all-media exhibition juried by April Wood will show nineteen works by artists from all over the country, including three local artists and one international artist.
While many of the pieces tend to the darker side, others take a lighter approach to serious topics. Such is the case with Renee Couture's piece "We Eat Laughing, Helpless and Forgetful", a humorous work about desire, this piece is made from actual potato chips coated with 22 karat Italian Gold Leaf.
Selected artists include: Liz Kohler Brown (NC), Renee Couture (OR), Matt Eggsware (PA), Kristin Thomsen Enck (DC), Andi Fink (MO), Jennifer Halvorson (IN), Linda Hesh (VA), Darlene Kaczmarczyk (MI), Heather McCaw Kerley (Germany), Natalie Larsen (WV), Mike McAteer (VA), Erin E. Murray (MD), Chloe Newman (PA), Steve Nyktas (IL), Melissa Precise (LA), Kirsten Stolle (NC), Gabrielle Wood (FL)
