Inner Peace = Outer Bliss: A workshop to open hips, shoulders, & legs

This detoxifying workshop will bring together the practices of Yin Yoga, Vinyasa Flow, and Restorative Yoga.  Beginning with a quiet practice and remaining in passive asanas for several minutes, poses will target the connective tissues, such as the ligaments, bones, and even the joints of the body. New depths in postures, deeper ranges of motion, and increased energy flow are just a few of the benefits of a Yin practice. Class will move into a sweaty detox flow designed to open hip, shoulder, hamstring, and quadriceps areas as well as strengthen the core.  Finishing in supported heart openers and other restorative poses, students will feel relaxed and revitalized as we move into the holiday season.

Johanna Seltzer, RYT 200, has been teaching since 1991, beginning in dance, and currently in the yogic tradition. She holds a B.A. in Dance from the University of Maryland, and a Graduate Certificate in Arts Management from American University. Her yoga practice began with an immersion in Vinyasa and Iyengar styles of yoga, later broadening to include Ashtanga, Jivamukti, and Anusara. A lifelong mover, the focus of yoga changed her, bringing awareness and compassion to an otherwise hectic life. Johanna is eager to share this discovery and help others to find balance.
