An informative evening with Christy as she addresses how to introduce solid foods to your child. She will cover the importance of starting solid foods and the appropriate time to begin introducing them into your baby's diet. Christy will also explain how to start feeding your baby, the best foods to begin the feeding process, and how much to feed your child. Allergies, high-risk foods, and a comparison of homemade and canned baby food will also be discussed.
A question and answer session will take place at the end of the night to enable you to gather helpful information about the needs and challenges that are specific to your family.
Resources will also be provided to aid you in applying your new knowledge in your home with your baby.

Christy has been in the restaurant business for 20 years, and she has been a chef for eight years. She is currently the owner and General Manager for Food Matters in Alexandria, Virginia. Christy is very passionate about local and seasonal eating and building a foundation for children to eat a varied healthy diet from birth. She is dedicated to helping parents feed their children well in whatever capacity they are able. She is comfortable in discussing baby food options for both meat-eating and vegetarian families. Christy is the stepmother to two children, 10 and 8, and mother to two children, 3 and 1. She makes all her own baby food and other home-based products for her family's use.
