Presentation: Planning and Permitting of Renewable Energy Systems: Experiences and Lessons from Millard County, Utah

Part of the Virginia Tech Politics and Planning Speaker Series.  
Bruce Parker, principal of Planning and Development Services, LLC(PDS), Salt Lake City, Utah, will present "Planning and Permitting of Renewable Energy Systems: Experiences and Lessons from Millard County, Utah." He will discuss the planning and permitting of a major renewable energy power generation facility (300-plus kV wind farm) including the issues of power transmission corridor planning. Parker will identify the vital role planners can play in environmental permitting and in facilitating the required coordination and collaboration with various federal and state agencies. He will also explore the effects of a major renewable energy initiative on the economic and social well-being of local communities and adjacent properties.
