Fairfax Police Seek New Info In Alexandria Man's 2021 Homicide

A 19-year-old Alexandria man was found dead inside a Groveton apartment on July 27, 2021. Police have yet to find his killer.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Fairfax County police are asking for the public's help in solving the five-year-old murder of an Alexandria man that occurred in Groveton.

On July 27, 2021, shortly after 7 p.m., officers responded to the 3100 block of Southgate Drive in Groveton for a death investigation. An adult man — later identified as Ronald Worthy Jr., 19, of Alexandria — was found dead in an apartment at the address.

According to police, Worthy was last seen by a family member that morning. During a search of the neighborhood, several community members believed they heard gunshots in the early afternoon hours, but the Fairfax County Department of Public Safety Communications received no calls for service.

Police said cartridge cases were recovered inside the apartment. Detectives also did not observe any obvious signs of forced entry into the apartment and do not believe the killing was a random act of violence.
