Fatal Old Town Alexandria Crash: Driver Charged

Update: The person that died in an Old Town Alexandria weekend crash has been identified as the driver's brother.

(Updated 1:05 p.m. Monday) ALEXANDRIA, VA—Police have identified the victim in the Saturday, July 8 crash in Old Town Alexandria. One person is dead and another seriously injured when a driver lost control of his vehicle.

Around 4 a.m., police reported a traffic crash at the 300 block of South Henry Street. The driver, Simon Pedro Urbino-Vasquez, 27, of Fairfax County, had minor injuries but refused medical attention.

Two passengers were in the car; Jose Wuilver Urbina-Vasquez, 24, of Silver Spring, Md. died from injuries on the scene and another from Fairfax County was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Police say the driver and deceased victim are brothers.

The driver has been charged with Vehicular Manslaughter related to driving while intoxicated and is being held without bond.
